Sanchakou Fm
Type Locality and Naming
North Qinling Mts (westernmost Henan). The Sanchakou Fm was named by the No. 3 Geological Team of Henan Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1978 and formally quoted in 1989 (on the Regional Geology of Henan Province). The typical section is situated near Sanchakou (in the north valley of Taowan village) in Luanchuan County, Henan Province.

Lithology and Thickness
The Sanchakou Fm is a suite of dark gray to gray carbonaceous sericite schist and calcareous conglomerate with a thickness of 230 m
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The basal part rests unconformably (?) with a bed of calcareous conglomerate, on the Taowen Fm or the Meiyaogou Fm of the Luanchuan Gr
Upper contact
The formation underlies conformably (?) the overlying Yuku Formation. However, the relationship of contact with the Taowan and Yuku formations is a controversial issue.
Regional extent
North Qinling Mts (westernmost Henan). The Sanchakou Fm is dominantly distributed in Luanchuan (Sanchakou, Shimiao and Fengzhuang) and Lushi counties.
